Gaining a deep and accurate understanding of a young person's character can be a challenging task. A greater insight into the complexities of a young persons development is essential for providing targeted support.
Our assessment tool allows The Learning Sanctuary to design truly bespoke learning activities that align with each student’s current level and to facilitate meaningful progress. Additionally, it is crucial for students to fully understand their targets and to be given the opportunities to achieve them.
We have developed the Personal Development Assessment Model (PDAM). This has been created through the collaboration of a range of professionals including Educational Psychologists, Ofsted inspectors, SENCOs and Headteachers from various settings. We believe we have created a truly effective and holistic model to track progression in character and personal development.
PDAM covers 16 (and counting) skills and values competencies. Within each competency there are a range of grade descriptors and child friendly targets. Each band of learning encompasses a progressive level of learning and knowledge.
Within the framework we place extra emphasis on certain skills or values that we believe are in line with a high percentage of EHCP outcomes from SEMH and Communication and Interaction strands of SEN.
These include:
All learners at The Learning Sanctuary will be assessed through this model as it underpins all that we do and every interaction with each student.
