9:30am - Meet at The Learning Sanctuary centre.
9:30am - 12:00pm - Working with our dog walking enterprise ’Wanderlust Walkies’. Collecting the dogs, walking a group of very friendly and excited dogs who will be your new best friends. Washing all the muddy paws down and returning the dogs to their homes ready for a big sleep.
12:15pm -12:45pm - Lunch at the centre.
12:45-2:30pm - Working in our animal centre, completing all the animal husbandry tasks, following the animal care plans with support where needed. We fit in lots of time for cuddles with your favourite animal whether it’s a giant millipede, a sugar glider, a rabbit, a tortoise, a snake or a ferret. We have a good range of little fellas waiting for some cuddles with you 🧡
2:30pm Close.
Our rescue centre students and staff actively engage with local primary schools.
We offer voluntary education sessions, introducing children to our centre’s animals through short, interactive presentations.
Our students gain invaluable opportunities to build confidence in their communication and interaction skills in a professional environment.
By sharing our knowledge about the animals we care for, the outreach work we offer provides a meaningful way for our students to contribute to animal welfare and to educate others.
Working at our small mammal and reptile rescue centre, our learners gain valuable hands-on experience with a range of animals in a safe and supportive environment. Our clients will participate in all aspects of animal care with close supervision and support.
Working alongside our enterprise business Wanderlust Walkies, our clients are supported in an accessible work related activity.
Our 3 therapy dogs are registered with PATS, Jenny is their registered handler. Accompany us as we visit local care homes, hospices and schools and see the difference our beautiful dogs make to other people’s lives as well as yours.
We recognise the importance of lifelong learning for some of our clients, we offer functional maths and English sessions delivered by a qualified specialist teacher.
We offer accredited courses through ASDAN and Open Awards, including an Animal Care course.
